Ford Trucks Advences Alternative Fuel Research with a Hydrogen Engine

In line with its goal of a zero-emission future, Ford Trucks has accelerated its R&D efforts and taken its alternative fuel technology work to the next level. Continuing its hydrogen-fueled engine studies, which began last year with a single-cylinder research engine, Ford Trucks successfully achieved the first ignition of the hydrogen engine, H2-Ecotorq, which is also an in house design. With successful results in initial tests, teams will continue to work on the system optimization and development of this engine.

This zero-emission vehicle solution represents a significant milestone for Ford Trucks in expanding its carbon-neutral product portfolio. With this development, Ford Trucks also reaches a crucial turning point in its goal of achieving zero emissions in heavy commercial vehicles by 2040.

As part of its “Generation F” initiative, Ford Trucks is leading a transformation that includes zero-emission, connected, and autonomous technologies, aiming to achieve a fully zero-carbon-emission product portfolio by 2040. At the same time, it continues to develop its vision for next-generation transportation by enhancing driver safety and improving the customer experience.

Under the motto “Sharing the Load” Ford Trucks prioritizes efficiency, satisfaction, and reliability at every stage of the customer journey. At IAA’24, Ford Trucks will present the newly enhanced F-MAX, featuring the new Ecotorq Gen2 engine and improved aerodynamics. Updated with new technologies and a brand-new engine, the F-MAX offers greater safety, comfort, and fuel savings. This new model also introduces the mirror camera system for the first time, delivering a more comfortable and high-tech driving experience
